2 Years Ago Today Image

My phone screen’s brightness

struggles to thrive in the direct sunlight seeping through the train window. As the train rolls past trees and buildings, shadows flash by on the skin of my hand, that I notice has an awful amount of scars and scratches from work.

A compiled ‘memory’, as the phone’s algorithm interprets, contains a group of photos from my film camera that I received back from the developer 2 years ago today.

I notice the white neon lighting reflecting onto rainbow coloured balloons that hang above the ceiling where my friends pose for a photo. Blurry faced, red-eyed friends reluctantly posing as they embrace each other, take a swig, make a funny face.

There are some photos of me, with my bleach blonde hair and big drunken smile and confidence, singing into a microphone with no care in the world, hands and arms hugging my friends.

Now I’m here and sitting on a train by myself, worried I’m taking up too much space.
