i wore you

on my neck

over my heart
my favourite accessory

and even when your shine had dulled
and your rust wore at my skin
i didn’t take you off 

until you unlocked the clasp
and i was rid of this weight 

and i remembered 
that accessories are just that

they’re worn to shine
and i hadn’t in so long
