i got tired of having boundaries and timelines and structure around when i would write.  these are a bunch of random poems that i put down into the notes app as soon as they came into my mind. whether that be when walking the dog around the block or just as i’m about to go to sleep. i like rigidity to be able to keep organised but i also want to be able to write whatever i want whenever i want. so, i gave myself the freedom to do just that and this is what came of it… 

it all seems doom and gloom 

until the flowers bloom 

i wait in the dark 

not knowing the light is just out of reach 

a hug from a friend 

a brush on the lips 

awakens me to feel what was  

once abandoned for so long 

as i rest in the un-rest-able 

i feel the discomfort slipping away 

just like how my mind did 

when it lost itself 

though now i lie in the sunshine 

and bathe in the glory of tomorrow 

…..

what’s mine is yours  

is not always good thing  

can you please stop sharing  

your burdens with me  

after years of suffocated space  

i finally learnt the importance of boundaries  

– they get mad when i prioritise myself  

first came anger  

then came tears 

then came resent for the next 7 years

dear ____ 

i need you to leave my brain  

i know you are not good for me 

i dont want to crave something i deserve better than  third chances just don’t exist 

or at least i’m not making it an option 

can i fantasize about you but still not want you? it’s been so long 

i don’t need you  

i don’t need a past version of myself 

doing little things  

for myself like 

warm hot chocolate 

on an autumn morning
