Self-love isn’t always glamorous Image

Self-love isn’t always glamorous.

It isn’t always about treating yourself nor does it always cost money to practice self-love because it looks different for everybody.

As a matter of fact,
Sometimes, it’s looking at your acne scars in the mirror and liking yourself anyway.

Sometimes, it’s posting the content you want and being okay with having little likes on it.

Sometimes, it’s deleting photos that no longer brings joy into your life.

Sometimes, it’s letting go of a toxic person that no longer contributes to your growth and wellbeing.

Sometimes, it’s realising that you can be that toxic person in someone else’s life too.

Sometimes, it’s stepping out of your comfort zone and learning how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Sometimes, it’s practicing how to simply say no without feeling bad.

Sometimes, it’s celebrating the little wins in your life like seeing another person on social media and not necessarily comparing yourself to them.

Sometimes, it’s forgiving yourself for not realising your worth sooner.

Or for not taking care of yourself better.

For not protecting yourself better.

For not listening to yourself better.

For not respecting yourself better.

And for not loving yourself better.

So while it’s great to practice self-love glamorously,

I think it’s important to recognise that it definitely isn’t always pretty nor is it always easy.
