The quarter century

We simultaneously get told, “what’s the rush?” And “why wait, you only live once” –

so I’m not entirely convinced anyone knows what to do with their twenties.

It’s a hazy place, dancing the line between feeling like you are doing enough and feeling as though the river’s about to sweep you off your feet.

But part of me can’t see what’s the rush to grow up because the future doesn’t seem so bright. Let us sit in the weightlessness of this time as the whispers of doing pass us by.

As the quarter-century fast approaches, the pressure to evolve is tenfold.

Remember, they say, it will pass you by in the blink of an eye – but take your time, sweet child of mine.

Live the line of waning, growing and standing still. Do it all and nothing at all.

And agreeably, you wait, residing on the precipice of something great.
