/THOUGHTS FROM SELF-QUARANTINE… because i have severe asthma :)/
I thought i’d be absolutely out of my mind five days in, but i’m better than okay! i’ve been doing a bunch of fun things that time would not have allowed if i had to go to school for these few weeks. ahead, a list.
1. Listening to 2016 Louisa Johnson and singing it very loudly. As a singer (or at LEAST a person who’s involved in way too many singing groups), this is a very healthy, normal thing. instead of repressing all my weird feelings about staying inside for almost three more weeks, i let it out by belting it out. Also, Louisa Johnson is so marvellously talented, i highly recommend her new and old stuff to anyone… buuuuut 2016 has a special place in my heart.
2. Watching bad movies. My family is weird and cute, so we decided to let each member of the family pick a movie to watch for designated “movie nights.” There are four of us: my אמה, (mom in Hebrew) אבא, (dad in Hebrew) and my little sister. the first night was actually a GOOD movie, “Patriot Games,” a classic American military film. however, it only went downhill from there. the next night my sister had to pick, and she chose “clueless.” yes, i know, i know, the style! The hilarious script! The characters! Paul Rudd! While that’s all well and good, i just couldn’t get interested in the plot. Sooo i stuck to focusing on the awesome ‘fits.
3. Paying attention to my skin so it is miraculously clear. Now that it’s acceptable for me to go to bed at midnight every night, i can do all the steps of my skincare routine that school prevented me from doing. exfoliator, micellar water, cleanser, toner, serum, spot treatment—the whole nine yards. It’s glorious, and my skin is absolutely LOVING IT.
4. Talking to old friends all day. I have friends all over the world that i’m not able to talk to all the time because of time zones, so now i can stay up until unholy hours of the night facetiming them! It’s wonderful. I got to talk to my camp friends, my friends from my israel trip from two summers ago, and some family friends too! Hell, i was talking to my ex (who is my friend now) two days ago, and had the most wonderful conversation for, like, three hours! I would most certainly not have time for this if was still going to school…
5. Playing with legos. I’m serious.when my sister and i were younger, we were very into legos. We woke up every morning for the sole purpose of creating new lego worlds. We always played pretending games for disturbing amounts of time in our basement, fighting over pieces, constantly making over each other’s houses, and seeing how many pieces we could steal from our male friends’ collections. Now, even at the ages of 12 and almost seventeen, were doing the same thing again. Yes, it is childish, but we’re doing something fun and brain-stimulating! After we finish our homework, it’s now part of our routine to build something new each day. currently, i’m trying to build my sister a greenhouse. It’s not going very well, but who knows? Maybe i’ll find some new pieces tomorrow that I can work with.
6. Reading my old journals, aka getting to know myself better. When I was younger, I’d write even more than I do now. Whether it was a daily journal, short story, or what I thought was going to be a famous novel one day, I don’t think I stopped writing for a minute of every day. I wrote fantasy, I wrote realistic fiction) current that were dramatized by yours truly), and drama. Some of the stuff that i wrote is so ridiculous that i laugh out loud while i’m reading. But! it’s like a window into younger me’s thoughts, my feelings, my beliefs. It’s show interesting to see how i’ve grown as a writer (and a speller!) and it’s nice to look back and see what was going on inside my brain.
